Assist Kenya Advance its Blue Economy Agenda and Prepare a Coastal Urban Development Plan
Our team assisted the Coastal Counties Economic Bloc (JKP) in Kenya to advance its blue economy strategy and contribute to sustainable urban development along the country’s coast. The project aligned with the priority of regional economic integration, aiming to connect the potential of Kenya’s maritime and coastal assets in the Indian Ocean to drive jobs, growth, security and environmental stewardship.
Core areas of action included:
- Strengthening the JKP’s capacity to develop and implement its blue economy agenda, preparing drafting sector-specific proposals.
- Align marine and land development planning
- Supporting maritime security, through coordination with the newly established Kenyan Coast Guard Service.
Key activities included:
- Drafted strategic plans for JKP’s blue economy agenda.
- Facilitated dialogue and coordination to align regional, country and EU stakeholders
- Identified Go Blue (a broader coastal urban regeneration programme) project activities and locations.
- Implemented a communication campaign
