Trade and Sustainability Regulatory Frameworks

Legislation directed at business, especially in relation to trade and investment, has been increasingly shaped by the sustainability and climate change agenda in recent years.

European Union (EU) legislation is becoming increasingly demanding in this respect, in line with priorities and values that the EU seeks to promote not only within, but also beyond its borders.

This is a further step in a path of several decades that Equinoccio has witness and actively participated in, in which these values have successively permeated new tools: formulation of new trade agreements, Cooperation Agreements, development aid programmes, public diplomacy actions… have already been promoting these priorities outside the European territory. A particular formulation of new legislation makes it possible to extend its scope of enforcement not only to European companies, but also to non-EU economic actors insofar as they trade, invest, or indirectly supply goods and services to the European consumer.

Thanks to its multidisciplinary expertise, Equinoccio is in a unique position to advise companies in understanding the kaleidoscope of commercial, regulatory and legislative requirements, and defining and deploying business strategies to integrate them.
