EU 5km Run in Jakarta 2016

For third consecutive year, the EU Delegation in Indonesia hosted the EU 5K Run on the 15th May 2016, an additional activity within Europe Month. Along the main street of Jakarta – Jalan Sudirman, around 2,000 persons participated in the run. They were welcomed after crossing the finish line with a medal at an entertainment area and all of them received a race-pack with an EU tee-shirt, water and fresh fruit.

The area featured a stage for music and the awards ceremony, a large EU booth with EU games and merchandise, and booths hosted by seven EU Member States, all of them collaborating with a restaurant or food vendor, selling specialties from their country.

The aim of the run was to reach the broader public and to highlight EU-Indonesia relations, while at the same time intensifying people to people contacts.

All proceeds of race registrations were donated to three Indonesian foundations benefitting orphans or children with disabilities:

  • Yayasan Bhakti Luhur:
  • Sanggar Anak Akar:
  • Yayasan Rumah Rachel:
