Quality Infrastructure

Our services can improve national quality systems and structures through the provision of policy advice and action plans to strengthen the national capacities to produce goods and services according to international standards for domestic and export markets. Typically, our work in this area involves:

  • Reviewing the legal framework, so that it is consistent with international standards
  • Assessing changes to be made in the national quality system to ensure that services offered correspond to the demand and needs of the productive sectors
  • Designing awareness programmes for the sensitisation of the general public and the business community
  • Assisting laboratories to specify and procure equipment and in the preparation for accreditation

On a regional level, we work on developing regional frameworks supporting the harmonisation of quality standards in order to improve trade flows and reduce technical barriers to trade, thus contributing to the regional economic and institutional integration process.
