Between last 26th and 30th of September 2016, Equinoccio organized successfully a training workshop in Castries, St. Lucia, oriented to 15 representatives of the different Customs Administrations of Antigua & Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana.

The main objective of the training was help to develop more efficient customs administrations in all the CARIFORUM countries. During the five days of the activity, were covered several key topics in the international and regional trade field like customs administration management and strategic planning for CARIFORUM nations; risk management; change management; cognitive bias; and the recognition of signals of human body language in law enforcement.

In addition, participants also had time to visit St Lucia’s Customs and Excise Department, one activity who served to gain first-hand insight into the customs declaration process in St Lucia and to understand the use of key customs techniques in ensuring customs compliance and enforcement.

This training course is an output of the CARIFORUM/EU Capacity Building Project which is funded under the 10th EDF. A consortium led by Equinoccio, which includes the London School of Economics, SGS and Maastricht School of Management is implementing the project.
